A40 - Slinger Signaller


An ideal entry point into the lifting industry, this course provides foundation training and assessment in slinging and signalling. In addition to covering clear and unambiguous signalling for a range of uses on-site, the course covers proper communication and assessment of load dimensions and weight as well as set-up and maintenance procedures for lifting accessories.

Completing the course successfully will entitle you to a CPCS Red Trained Operator Card(after completing the appropriate CPCS Technical Tests).

Awarding Body


Course structure

Operate the machine for all normal tasks.

Decide whether a particular load is safe to lift.

Carry out routine servicing procedures and maintenance as necessary, in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.

Know how the machine works and the maintenance requirements involved.

Understand the effect of load, size, weight, gradients and ground conditions upon machine stability.

Know how to load, store and transport representative materials.

Understand the basic construction of pallets.

Course Elements

Long Duration:
4 days (3 days of training, 1 day of technical tests)

Short Course Duration:
2 days (1 day of training, 1 day of technical tests)

Entry requirements

Before taking the course you must:

Have passed a CITB Health, safety and environment (HS&E) test no more than two years before attending this course.

Have a good understanding of spoken and written English.
